    Bakki Shower Advice

    Good morning

I want to install a four tier Bakki shower I am going for the Evolve 1000mm long version can anyone tell me how much media it will require and will it need to go in each tier. I know the Momontaro is the best but what is the best alternatives.

    Many thanks

A shower I had on a pond I had 5/6 years ago had the small bits of grog in it so it was in onion bags but that was great.

At the moment I'm running grog ,crystal bio and midori csm

Grog is great in a shower but use the big stuff.
I made the mistake and ordered some small and boy it is small and needs to go in a mesh sack.

Bought a 4 tier 1500 long Shower from Ian, he advised that'll probably take around 40 to 50 kg's of BHM.

I also have a 100cm width x 24cm x 30cm 4 tier Bakki shower, I purchased 1 box of 10kg Sakura far infrared shower media from Kitsu koi which fills one tier once you have broken each Pierce in two and mixed the media up so it sits at every angle. This is £69 per box which isn’t bad, I’ve also got pumice in 3 tiers and looking at 25kg of pumice is approximately £50 on eBay plus delivery so I went with Sakura and will get some more in the summer. The pump is important too as you need a good amount of flow over it if you want it as a shower and not a trickle tower. 20,000 litre pump is a good flow rate.

i used to have a small fiberglass shower before my momotaro and had pumice in that, until i found out it was breaking down and the minute glass shards were irritating koi,it was actually crystal bio, which shocked me,never again, its in a bag at top of garden with the rest of my old pond stuff lol, also you will find that the plastic boxes arent uv protected and will eventually go brittle and crack, they also bow well,,,,,andi

Glad a read this about the pumice! And I gota say some of the boxes may bow if they are cheap but if you buy the more expensive heavy duty ones they are not bowing, the ones Iv just bought have reinforced bottoms! They was expensive but perfect for the job! Until I decide to get a stainless steel one I’m playing with diy! I think the problem is with some of the diy showers the first thing people go for is cheapest boxes possible.

    Pumice isn’t crystal bio.
Pumice is a rock, Crystal bio is sintered glass.

No worries. I’m interested in the longevity of pumice as is very soft. I’d presume it will erode in a shower.

I bought a bag of pumice and didn't like it at all,no holes in it or very few.

It's in a bucket in the garden if anyone wants it.
