Hi Fred
sorry for slow response, been away. I'm good, Happy New Year to you Fred and the family! The Bio chips I use are the Kaldnes ones as above. Here is a link if you scroll to end of it:
https://absolute-koi.com/subcat324.html
I have them added as 25% to K1 which is what Kaldnes recommended somewhere. Do they work? Who knows! I have almost zero ammonia and nitrite but then I have total 300litres of media in there. They certainly look brownish in colour. They roll around ok with the K1. Issue I had with them (before my draco) was if I back flushed from Bio side to Eazy to clear the Nexus kiss points at the bottom some of the chips would get through the slots and float into middle of Eazy...but not an issue now with drop in.
I believe EA don't make them anymore though, which is why surprised they are still on Absolute web site...I think they deleted them when they introduced the micro media, as they didn't want 4 types of media each claiming better than each other! As above you can get some alternatives but not sure what the quality of plastic is like vs the ones I use..
How's the Draco running? Still pleased with mine!
Cheers

The picture above looks like Mutag. About a year ago i obtained a free sample of Mutag as my mum has a garden centre.I have to say they matured very quickly. The only trouble is if you have slotted dividers in your bio chamber they may migrate. Im interested to see size etc of the new Oase media

I’ll watch out for some feed back C-T.
How much roughly, and what size packs does it come in.
also how much would replace say 100ltrs of k1.
also they were running it on its own is this what they recommend is best, rather than mix with k1.
sorry so many questions

hi Jaz
I live in a hard water area k1 and the calcium collects on the media and makes it sink after a while.
i have found though everyone rates hex-x it sinks a lot faster than k1.
this new media is like a foam really lite and turns over very easily, it’s also has a greater surface area,
im changing one of my bio chambers from k1 to jap mat and thought would try the new media in the other chamber, keeping moving bed.
i will get around to sort ro as this will sort a lot of my problems.

Its ok. big h. ain't got the combi yet, finished filter house build yesterday, that's all water tight bit of finishing off on outside, then doing roof over pond, and hopefully get fibreglassing done, been a nightmare here to be honest, its rained virtually everyday since end of August.
Thanks for the advice though
