Show us your Bakki Shower Filter with PICs and info. Here's mine.
Show us your Bakki Shower filter, With pictures and some info of it.
Heres mine..
I am relatively new to the hobby. This is my bakki shower filter. Its been running for about 8 months now and its made a massive difference to my water quality.
Its a 4 tier system with the top chamber doing my mechanical filtration. The filter is 100cm wide.
Under the removeable spray bar I made a 200 micron sive tray and under that I have a layer of course, medium, fine and Japanese matting. It does a great job of removing the particles.
The below 2 chambers I have roughly 25KGs of pumice and the bottom chamber I have 20 KGs of pumice and roughly 10KGs of Biohome media.
I cleaned it today and this is one weeks worth of gunk..
I can't believe such a simple filter system has made such a difference to the water quality..
Here is a few pictures and a short video.

Pumice and alfagrog is perfect for a bakki trickle filter as long as its prefiltered so as not to clog.
I bought this box a while back as I liked the look of it for a future pond project.. Will look great when stacked to make a bakki style filter.

Hi Ray. Are you sure that type of box won't go brittle when left outside?

I am not sure it is UV stable though, boxing it off will help. I just remember leaving similar boxes outside and then the bloody thing fell apart when trying to lift it!

Hi Ray,good size box that but as said would be carefull of the UV.
Love the shower and the way you have done the micron seive,so its plastic angle with the micron inside how did you fix the mesh?
How do you secure the shower? Must be secured to the wall some way.John

Hi John,
The shower is quite heavy with roughly 80KGs of media so is heavy enough to be stable and just leans against the wall.
The sieve tray is made from 25mm x 25mm plastic angle. Stuck together with glue as a frame in the corners. The mesh cut to size is layed into the angle frame and just stuck with silicone sealent on the edges of the frame.
I can tell the sieve tray and the foam sponges are doing a good job as the pumice in the below chambers are clean and doing its biological job well and not getting clogged with algae and gunk.

My shower is the last inline before re-entering the pond, it's after all of the mechanical filters and I haven't had to clean it yet after a year or so. I did place a layer of Matala grey in the top trays over the feather rock ( same as pumice), but there isn't anything for it to catch.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
