Here is the link with a picture that might give you an idea what's involved changing the pump on the Answer, unfortunately I did not take a series of pictures of adapting the Answer 410 to accept the new Aqua Forte DM vario 10,000 pump. https://www.koiforum.uk/water-treatm...onversion.html

After looking at a picture of that pump it is such a different style I don't see how you would adapt it to fit the answer 410? The other pump an aquafort , I saw suggested was almost identical to the original Oase pump. But costly. Any info or pics of what you did. My pump ran 18plus years before crapping out. Thanks for any info

Not sure why some are having trouble fitting the Aqua Forte pump to replace the old original pump, when I converted my own Answer 410 whilst it's not a straight forward fit, which means you have to adapt one part of the original pump with a hacksaw to use the existing spigot, them armed with an assortment of flexible pipes and a rubber elbow, I managed to fit it as a permanent fitment, and its working perfectly with the added benefit of using a lot less energy than the original pump even if used at maximum output, which I only have used at max during a blanket weed problem, now its back to its lowest setting. I did have a few new parts that I ordered and did not use, but as I was desperate to get the answer working again as it failed whilst we were on holiday, I consider that was a small price to pay as I got the Answer 410 up and running again quicker, with an assortment of bits I was able to figure out what bits were going to be the best fit for a permanent fit, and with losing a single koi during the extended shutdown. Unfortunately I did not take any photos during the conversion only after fitting, of which I posted on this forum.

I can see by looking at that pump it should be an easy conversion. My one issue is the cost of that pump is kind of high but may have no choice not sure if it is sold here in the USA? I tried this pump Jebao DCP Sine Wave Water Return Pump 13000 It was an easy retrofit but it didn't have enough pressure. I got a little spooked by that and even though they have a couple of bigger ones I didn't try what do you think/ Will the largest one work? my knowledge of pump pressure is limited
Brand: Jebao

These are the specs for the
Eco Max DM Series Pump Performance Table
They seem to be very similar to the point that maybe same manufacturer? I had the 13000 model on the jebao and it didn't put enough pressure out of the nozzles. What am I not seeing here?? Any ones thoughts. Thanks

Gents, know it's been a while but just wondered if anyone could provide a view please as to whether it is better to upgrade the pump on the answer or just drop an easy basket in?

UPDATED Info
A member, having recently asked me about the pump I fitted, I thought it would benefit other members if they were considering changing the pump in their Answer 410 to an Aqua Forte, 10,000 pump, as this has now been running successfully now for over five years, this is my personal views on this setup now.
I'm very pleased with the results on changing the pump, it's proving very economical to run at the lowest speed setting, especially with the rising costs of energy lately, the only thing I have noticed during the warmer months with heavy feeding, the answer screen can clog up more often at the slowest speed, this for me is not a problem I just keep my eye on screen mesh and clean it, or you can temporally do a partial quick clean, and turn the pump speed up, it should be noted in my bio chamber it has a fail-safe float switch to prevent the bio chamber running too low, and killing the live bacteria, this little feature has been a godsend over the years, I'm not sure if Evolution later systems have got this feature still, if your system has not got a failsafe float switch I would highly recommend getting one fitted, because even before the original pump failed it always prevented the bio chamber running too low and also prevent the return pump from running dry and burning out, when ever the Answer 410 screen clogged up and required thorough cleaning.

No, the 'drop in' drum sits inside a nexus or a vortex. They change hands for £600 second hand and often less than that.
£958 new

I was checking my old phones memory card and found this, a photo of the Aqua Forte 10,000 variable pump I adapted to fit he Answer 410, it may help others in the situation of what parts are required.
Filtreau 25 & bio unit
A Draco uses mains water pressure. That really is hassle free. Horses for courses Drum failures...
