    Yes, thanks for replies.

    I was thinking a lot of Bakki showers are inside and/or on heated ponds. My filter shed - and pond - are too small the shower is fixed up on the shed wall nearest the pond with a 110mm return to the pond. I'll have to see about an enclosure, maybe wood and polycarb. My dreams are of a proper Koi house, but that's just a dream

    My shower has run since 2016 continuously and I have never touched the shower, The media looks brown but clean (BHM).
    If you did turn it off for any length of time, then you would need to clean the trays and media before recommissioning.

    Now if someone was having problems with a high bacterial count or trichodina, checking nooks and crannies for crud building up would be a good idea. Otherwise, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And definitely don’t ever turn it off.
