Flow way on heater
Bought a heater to find out it has a water flow this way (heater was after thought) now with the flow way the control unit is going to be facing the wrong way. can the controls be turned around . This probably won't make any sense other than to me and even am questioning it so good luck and thanks

Flow way on heater
There needs to be a flow control switch like this:
Which you remove and turn (direction of flow).
I think some of the older models don’t have them, or you need the model up with the LED display and temp probe.

Flow way on heater
Resell it if you can be bothered and get another one, it might cost you a bit more - there’s a 2KW Elecro on eBay for £100 currently (with the LED display, temp probe & flow switch).

It could well be worth you doing the maths on whether a pure electric heater is going to cost effective VS an ASHP- I know the initial investment is a lot higher, but it won't take that long for you to be reaping the savings.
I am currently heating my pond to maintain a stable temp of 23C and it's really not on very much- an electric heater would be costing me an arm and a leg. I did spend nearly 2k on the ASHP a couple of years ago, but it probably doesn't owe me much now in terms of what I have saved from having it. It is even more efficient in summer temps so if you think you would like to heat to a steady growth temp in summer I would say it is the way to go!2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Yeah I have looked at them but I really don't have that lay out . Am only wanting to heat in winter to try and help with health paras ect I read up on aeromonas alley*on mankys site and if I read it right (big if ) I would want to try and keep around 14 15 . Keeping every inch of filter, pipe boxed and insulated with 50mm . 50mm floor and sides of pond and 25mm poly with bubble wrap for a cover . I know it's not going to be cheap but for a year or 2 until funds are better I hope this will do something against losing my kids

Love your pond btw thanks for the advice and when savings build up I will be taking the advice and getting an air source I would love to have it heated all year round . (But think I would be fishing my little one out on Xmas day when she wanted a swim in the hot pool haha)

I dont have a heater, but i'd assume heater is the last thing before pond return.
No point heating the water and then having to run it through other bits of equipment where you'll just get heat losses.

There might be other reasons to do it differently such as bacteria growth in the hot water or something - I'll leave those sorts of comments to those that know better than I. But from a pure mechanics point of view, that's what I would do.
