Hi Phil,
I know and keep in touch with Matthew the owner. He was brilliant for me when I moved house - came round and collected all my Koi before we moved and ended up holding them for 5 Months in return for a small monthly rent covering the shipping container and electricity costs. Without him I would not have been able to keep my Koi, and definitely not move them on moving day.
I also bought all my pipework from him for the current pond.
A genuine lovely bloke with a genuine passion for Koi.
But, having visited his "place" a few times (but not recently I hasten to add), I hate to say this, but no, I wouldn't do a 4 hour trip just for a random visit, not unless I was buying a Koi from him.
He runs a large construction company and the Koi facility is in the same warehouse as all his building materials, its not a dedicated koi shop as such, there's not a large selection of dry goods in stock, and the ponds are typically covered and he'll go round lifting the covers from any ponds you want to buy from.... when he's there, which he often isn't during the week without prior appointment.
I think to summarise, he has turned his Koi passion into a bit of a business, but his real business is construction and during the week he tends to be tied up with that, and then in the Koi "shop" on Saturdays.
Overall a very decent highly likeable bloke who is quite well known on the Koi scene, great to buy stuff from, but I think if travelling 4 hours just to have a look, and not as part of a multi-shop visit, you would be disappointed.

Green murky water after late rain
The cloudiness cleared up after a few days. The description gave our household quite a chuckle :D
