Doncaster Koi - New koi farm in Yorkshire
Good day everyone.
We would just like to introduce ourselves as a new koi breeder/rearer/farm based in Doncaster.
We started the company at the end of 2014 with the aim of supplying UK bred koi to and around the Yorkshire area at affordable prices.
We will shortly have a large amount of koi to offer from our rearing ponds. The varieties available from our next netting will be Chagoi, Karashigoi, Kigoi, Soragoi and Matsuba. We offer excellent discounts on multiple or batch purchases and can deliver at cost depending on your location.
I will post some pics up once the nettings have been done and the koi have been sorted.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these varieties or would like anymore information please post here or send a PM and we will be happy to have a chat with you. Our website will be completed in the coming months where you will be able to view images and videos of our hand selected koi.
We look forward to speaking to you soon.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your interest. The current stock is all bred from Japanese bloodlines but going forward we are hoping to bring our own home-growns into our breeding programme. We are aiming to achieve the best possible quality fish and so selecting the best quality parent sets for the breeding programme is our priority whether that be Japanese or our own UK bred fish.
Hi Trace, our experience is purely personal. We have been hobbyists for the past 15 years, and had the koi farm and bred koi for the past 4-5 years. Up until the end of 2014 we had bred, reared, and grown the koi purely for our own personal enjoyment and to learn as much as we could about these beautiful creatures.
From then we decided to pursue our passion into more of a business than a hobby, and worked on setting up our farm and equipment to cater for this. The learning never ends and we continue to improve day on day. We only hope we can bring as much joy to other hobbyists ponds from our fish that we have had over the years.

Good luck in your new venture but it is going to be tough out there getting yourselves established in the world of koi.
I think the best way to start out would be to hold an open day and invite all the forum members to collect their free sample koi5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

Thanks lee63.
It is a very difficult market indeed. I am under no illusion that it is going to be easy and if we can get even close to some of the exceptional fish out there we will be happy.
On a side note we are going to be putting a new spin on the way people buy their koi. We are aiming to specialise in a home delivery service whereby we will visit you with the varieties of koi that you are interested in, bowl them up and let you pick any that you are interested in. The social side of the hobby is just as important to us as the business side, and then we also get to sample everybodies cups of tea. So we will be bringing the business to you.
As an example...lee63 expresses a genuine interest in buying some Chagoi. We would make an appointment with him and bring a selection of Chagoi at his requested size to his location. We would bowl them up, have a cuppa and a chat over the koi being viewed and should lee63 see anything he likes a purchase can be made. No hard sell and no obligation to buy. Depending on distance there may be a small service fee to cover mileage expenses.
We are taking bookings now for this service so anyone with a genuine interest can email us to arrange a booking or get further information.
Thanks

Sounds good to have somewhere a little closer, I hope it goes well for you.
Personally I would not be happy to have koi brought to me due to the stress and damage that can happen so I would much rather travel to see what is on offer and to also see the facilities such as filtration, heating and quarantining systems before I would be happy to purchase any koi.

"Koi on Wheels" .... 10/10 for marketing ingenuity but to tell you the truth that sounds like an idea that someone with more experience in business than fish well-being would come up with.
How are you going to transport them?
What is your distance range?
How often is each fish going to be presented to potential buyers?
Seems to me like there could be a lot of drawbacks to this idea.
If you want a new spin why not use a Skype style video interaction system with good HD camera's .... bowl the fish up on site and let people see them while interacting with staff ... then use an overnight specialist courier ? ...
Infact why not just leave a "Live" HD webcam on all the time in an optimum viewing position or underwater and illuminated in your "select fish" holding pond accessible all the time from your site when it's up. People love "spying" in on these "reality" camera's and will make enquiries if a desirable fish is spotted.
There you go two great marketing ideas ... with a lot less stress on the fish and far lower running costs ...Last edited by Trace; 17-06-2016 at 10:56 PM.
