    Aqua Source Blanketweed Resolve

    Hi,
has anyone else used this with sturgeon.

I have always used CBA never had any issues myself , sturgeon were fine.

So i decided to give Aqua Source a try, sprinkled around edge of pool no cloudiness which I liked.

Approx 5 hours later around 10 pm checked the pool as I always do & my larger of 2 sturgeon that never comes off bottom is halfway up doing a rate of knots, whilst the smaller sturgeon that does come up around the edges of pool occasionally is half out the pool doing dolphin tail tricks all over the pool.

They have now settled down but clearly irritated by what I had added.
Info on back says harmless to plants and animals but no mention about sturgeon.

    Cheers

    Hi Paul,

I am a Director at Aqua Source, and developed Resolve.

Resolve is completely harmless to sturgeon and sterlet, in fact it is possibly the safest of all the blanketweed treatments on the market. There are no biocides, pesticides, algaecides, ammonium compounds or any other substance that requires HSE approval in Resolve.

Resolve was rigorously tested with both sturgeon and sterlet prior to being released, with no effects at all, so I cannot comment further as to why yours acted as they did.

The first year I started using Aquasource Resolve it clouded the water on the first dose but not on the second dose 10 days later and that year 2 doses were enough. The second year I tried it it didn't cloud the water and one dose was required. The following 2 years I didn't need to use it and then I put the first dose in this year and it clouded the water and I've just put this year's second dose in and it doesn't look like it has clouded the water. I know I started a bit late with it this year but have found sometimes it clouds the water for up to 4 days as it says on the instructions and other times just for a few hours if at all after adding it.

Have you checked your Ammonia levels or O2 levels as anything that does off can produce excess Ammonia and also if the blanket weed is helping with oxygenation the water and you remove it then you are potentially going to be affecting your oxygen levels in the water.

Thank's for info. I used this to see if it would help clear not blanket weed in strands but the sides of pool look like a snooker table and it continually breaks up like dog hair . It has been 7 days now the pool is still murky at the bottom (white fish look green) sides of pool have not really altered still coated. Is this what I should expect phosphate is still 2.
    Cheers

I've put in 2 doses and due for a 3rd on the 17th and apart from clearing the insides of the multi cyclone filter it hasn't really done much. It probably doesn't help that the tub I have is best before June 2020 so maybe it's just starting to go off. I got some more from Mr Big yesterday so will use that for the 3rd and 4th doses then see what happens.

The most I've had to do before is 2 doses and even then the second dose was not really required as I thought at the time you had to do all 4 doses.

I have just worked out why the last couple of doses haven't done much. I was reading litres as gallons so was only putting in 30 grams in stead of 150 grams

It's 25 grams per 750 litres or 165 gallons so I was only dosing for 1000 litres not 1000 gallons

Could have been worse, I could have been dosing for gallons not litres and would have been 4.5 times too much rather than 4.5 times too low

I only had to dose once with CBA.
Didn't realise that it is recommended to dose twice, cost wise it is no cheaper.

From what it says on the tub you dose 10 days apart for 4 doses but only keep going for all 4 if the blanket weed is still there. After the 4th dose then it's once a month just to stop it coming back, but again only redose if it starts to come back or not completely gone.

Aquasource Resolve is probably a safer option than CBA going by past experience and what others have said about it on here.

But if you are not having any problems with it then stick with what you know

Don't ask me to put a gallon of fuel in your vehicle as I'd only put in a litre and you make it off the forecourt
