Thread: Growth rate?

    Growth rate?

We have had our Diamond back for 3years now and we were wondering about his growth rate. Andrew (???) was a puny 8"when missus and son felt so sorry for him in a garden centre tank that they brought him home. We know we havent really got capacity for him at 1000 gallons but anyway he's here. He's probably about 2ft and a bit is this ok growth in that time frame? He's only ever been fed OF and our Koi are also continuing to snap it up through winter and even grow a little despite no heating. On another thought he is happy enough at present but how much longer realistically do we have before he has to be moved. Thanks.

My sturgeon is probably pushing 10 years old now. It is well over 3 feet long and last year I weighed it at almost 6pounds.
The pond is 8feet square and 3-4feet deep. It has no problems doing laps around the pond and eats well.
It is definitely boss of the pond and all the other fish stay well clear if he gets giddy, which he does now and again just to let off a bit of steam, swimming faster than usual.
Overall he seems happy and healthy, he is pure muscle and looks magnificent.
I feed the same food throughout the year but feed less as the water cools, but it will usually keep feeding right through winter.
I've tried to upload a picture and short video hopefully they work.
