    Filtreau 25 & bio unit

    I am having a new pond built in January, i need to know how can i use clean tap water to supply the cleaning pump ? or is it better to have an auto top up and use pond water ?
    any advice appreciated.

    A Draco uses mains water pressure. That really is hassle free. Horses for courses
    Drum failures with high pressure pumps can empty the pond and require trickle in or auto top up and therefore constant monitoring for chlorine.
    Mains pressure for cleaning is simple, doesn't require the hp pump cost and helps keep the screen clean of bacteria and algae (due to chlorine in mains water), but the pond doesn't get the benefit of all that fresh water you're using.

    I also agree with Al and John, mains water for cleaning the drum is the best way to go, providing you’ve got a minimum of 3 bar pressure it’s the most cost efficient and easiest way to go.
    The fiscal and running cost of a solenoid is so much cheaper than a high pressure pump.
