Pump 24/7
Hi guys.
I've had my pond running for many years now.
All this time I've never switched my pump off. The pump has always been on.
I'm now wondering if this is the correct thing to do.
The fish are now in their topid state so I'm thinking they may not need the water to have a high level of oxygen.
Any thoughts guys?

If you turn the pump off the bacteria in the filter etc will die and will lead to a dangerous situation in the pond very quickly. Fish still let off ammonia in winter even when not feeding for months so this needs to be removed. Also the oxygen in the water will be used up quickly with no movement in the water as it will go stagnant.

Thanks Sam.
With that information I’ll keep the pump on.
