    Auto top up

Hi, I’m looking to add an auto top up to my pond, to just replace water my drum has used for cleaning.

Is there any way to make something DIY without adding the cistern box I’ve seen others use.

I’m totally clueless with this stuff so go easy Auto top up

    Thanks

looking at something similar just to replace what the drum uses.
my chlorine is so high now i burn through carbon at an alarming rate especially in winter...

seen lots add a ball float to the dirty side of the drum, but my flow rate is so high it's 2" lower than the pond level so would be a bit of a balancing act...

Lots of people add a torbeck type cistern valve to the clean side of their drum. They a pretty compact compared to a ball float valve type.

So when you put it on the clean side as the screen gets dirty and the level drops does it start filling before the pump starts

Does this then not have a negative effect on the drum float switch

Or should it be set to the same height as the float on the drum in clean mode but wouldn't this just be a tiny top up because one in clean my drum chamber floods quickly

Was thinking of setting one up in my skimmer basket as that's where I have my pond over flow

If you want a simple solution and don't mind forking out, this gets a lot of positive feedback, but over £200 I think:

Yeah, if it's going in the drum perhaps having it on the dirty side would make more sense.

    Skimmer would be ideal.

Been fitted now for a few days and works a treat. Think I will put the 15mm push fit fitting one the big blue and to the solenoid valve (as advised by Andy )as it builds up a bit of pressure when in the off position.
I have the flow rate set at 2 liters per min as this helps to reduce tracking and having to backwash. This flow rate was advised by Andy as the spray bar inside the big blue will work more efficiently as opposed to a low flow rate which will dribble out of the spray bar, as there are 10 settings on the digital timer the higher flow rate easily keeps up with water that the drum uses.E7E9EA90-1A72-4A0A-A873-8E13590B5590.jpg456B93A6-DCAF-466C-8170-8CAE02EDE610.jpg456B93A6-DCAF-466C-8170-8CAE02EDE610.jpg
