One thing I found out before I started a couple of days ago was the new 100 micron 4" socks won't fit over 3" pressure pipe so to use them I would need some pipe which is the same size diameter as the cleaning tube for an Eazy Pod which I am beginning to think is the metric version of 3" waste pipe as it fits inside 3" pressure pipe where as normal imperial 3" waste pipe doesn't?

I've gone a slightly different route this morning. As the new filter socks have got plastic frames on them they are a nightmare to make fit anything so in the end I just put a short length of 3" pressure pipe in the outlet of the slide valve, cut a slot in the frame and then it just squeezed over the end of the 3" pipe. I then held the sock in place with a jubilee clips and went for it. The 100 micron filter sock started to collect muck fairly quickly so may need to keep an eye on it.
The original 3" drilled pressure pipe idea is still going to happen as the original 400 micron and 200 micron filter socks are much bigger so will be much easier to fit and remove as I don't think the newer 100 micron version will work on the 3" pipe as it would be such a tight fit it would probably just wipe the muck back off the inside of the sock as I took it of the pipe
So the plan is to use the drilled pipe with the 200 and 400 micron socks to get the worst of the muck out of the water then go for the 100 micron sock to get the final polish

Couple of photos. Not sure how much they will actually show?

This was taken very shortly after it was fitted and hopefully you can see the water is only coming out from the end of the slide vale to about half way along the sock?

This was taken 4 hours later and hopefully you can see the water is running right to the end of the sock and coming out from the outlet of the slide valve to about 2/3 of the way along the sock.

I had to fit the speed clamp as the sock kept bending and sliding down the net with the weight of the water in it.

Well I thought I'd risk it Fred lol
I fitted the 100 micron sock at 12 pm yesterday and checked it every couple of hours and the took a photo every 4 hours at feeding times the last of which was 8 pm last night. Going by the rate it was collecting muck I thought by 12 am last night it would be putting the overflow to good work so thought it was worth leaving to do it's own thing over night. I checked it just after 6 am this morning expecting to find it blocked up and overflowing but it wasn't. OK it's noticeably fuller than it was at 9 or 10 pm last night but still flowing fairly nicely. Got another photo of it just after 6 am and will see if it will last till 12 pm so that's 24 hours worth.
Looking at what's in the sock I think it is mostly dissolved food as it looks kind of sandy? That may explain the difference in the amount of build up from 12 pm yesterday to 9 or 10 pm last night as the last feed was around 8 pm. If my theory is correct it should start blocking again quicker since I fed them at just after 6 am this morning.
Will see if I can get a kind of time lapse 24 hour set of photos later today

Last night when I gave them the last feed of the day I noticed the water was looking clearer as even in the cloudy shaded light on the pond I could see the bottom of the pond more clearly as normally the sun has to be on it to see anything on the bottom
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
