New DIY seive
20200123_114220.jpg20200123_132018.jpg20200123_132103.jpg
Putting the finishing touches, first picture was dry fitted then all sealed and tightened up.
Copied from Wrightys you tube, water enters the 4ins pipe gravity fed then through a butterfly valve inside the pipe to the spreader plate then over the seive.
The valve is controlled by two floats via linkages ( which was very fiddly to do ) but hopefully it works.
The float and links can be adjusted as they are on a s/s threaded bar so there is some leeway.
Waiting for the 60 mesh screen as it was lost in the post

Morning Fred, Its for the grow on got that many in there and soooo much poo.
Got a 4ins bottom drain to vortex then to shower, was going to rip the vortex out which would be a big job then put the seive in its place, then I thought leave the vortex in and put a 4ins tank connecter on it to the seive much easier and I have a radial connecter.
Got the tank locally about 2ft long 16ins wide and 18ins deep cost £13 but very strong, basically a plastic box Fred.
Still got a fair bit to do and have to get the height spot onJohn

Made the stand for the seive and the 2ins connecter for the pump all in.
Offered it up to the vortex and trying to decide where to position the inlet or should be exit from the vortex.
Will reposition the pump so it will pump vertically to the shower and no long runs.
Mesh hasn't arrived yet and they promised it would be here today.John

A few pictures if anyone wants to see how it works.
Pic 1 shows the lifting mechanism, the float balls can be adjusted up or down on the s/s rebar as can the opening on the inlet flap inside the 4ins pipe.It shows the flap open.
Pic 2 shows the flap fully raised and the flap closed.
Pic 3 shows the support for the pipe in place.
Pic 4 splash plate in place.
Pic 5 where the water will hit the splash plate, you can see the angle pieces to stop the water splashing sideways and upwards.
Pic 6 is where it will be
That is the plan so hope it works, tried it with water and all ok.
Mesh still hasn't turned up.Last edited by john1; 25-01-2020 at 01:28 PM. Reason: Change
