Little bugger nearly had my fingers this morning
It's getting back to it's old greedy self just still swimming oddly. But if it's almost half out of the water trying for food I'll settle for that
Might try hand feeding it later________________________________________________

Just fed the fish in the QT system and the pond.
All 5 fish in the QT system came up pretty fast and considering it's strange swimming action the tench was like an orange rocket powered blue bottle lol
The fish in the pond were attacking the food with their heads out of the water competing for the food________________________________________________

Not again!!!
I checked the temperature controller this morning as I normally try to check it every day or 2 as the fish weren't as lively as normal, the temperature was down to 20.4 degrees CI pulled the temperature probe out and cleaned off the muck which immediately put the temperature reading into the high 20s and then it settled back down to 20.4 so I checked the heater in the Eazy Pod and it didn't feel warm at all so it looks like the heater has gone tits up again. It's only been in there since February this year and that one had only been in there and working for about 18 months
Both heaters were the DD Titanium ones which I thought were meant to be quite good ones as they are more expensive than the other ones that come with built in controllers. Both were bought from a company on Amazon called Aqua Marines which have now gone bust I think, so I can't even get in touch with them to say how shit they are. Have just ordered another DD Titanium 650 watt heater from a different company on Amazon which should be turning up tomorrow. Hope the new one last longer than the last 2 !!! Annoyingly DD are made in Germany which I would have thought should be a better quality than if they were made in China?
At least the temperature in the garage is currently fairly warm so with a bit of luck the water temperature won't drop too much before the new heater turns up.________________________________________________

Yes I know. Annoyingly I bought the original 600 watt DD Titanium heater along with an Elitech controller when I started this build thread, put them somewhere safe and not been able to find them since
so somewhere I've got a spare heater and controller. Just wish I knew where that somewhere is FFS
Checked the controller earlier this afternoon and it has dropped from 20.3 to 20.1 !!!________________________________________________

The heater should be turning up tomorrow just don't know when so want to hold off cleaning the filter until I have the heater back up and working again so may have to clean the filter on Sunday? Got to clean the filters for the pond tomorrow though as I couldn't do the mid week clean due to putting in a dose of Aquasource Resolve last Saturday so wanted to give it 7 days before changing any water so as not to dilute it out in any way.

Water temperature now down to 19.8 degrees C
Looks like I may need to adjust the controller down a bit so as not to raise the temperature too much in one go. Going to see what it drops to by the time I've got the heater and go for no more than 2 degrees above that.________________________________________________

Heater turned up early afternoon. Fitted it and turned the controller down to 20.5 degrees C then will raise it over the next few days or so and then it should be back to normal temperature again? Fitted it at 2:30 and checked the temperature at 5:30 it appears to have gone up to 20.4 degrees C will check it when I do the last feed later to see if it's changed much.

Looking good. Just fed them, the controller had switched the socket off and it was showing the temperature as 21.0 degrees C

Temperature now back up to around 22 to 23 degrees C the platinum ogon is eating really well still but still has a strange swimming action.
I may have worked out why the heaters are going so quickly? The 2 knackered ones both have a build up of crud that's set solid where the rubber sucker things go round them, looks like calcium build up possibly? I think it's only where the bottom clip goes but will double check them both. So maybe this build up is causing a hot spot on the element? I've already noticed it on the new one and that's only been in and working for less than a week I think? I'll try to give the heater a bit of a scrub with one of those wash up sponges that has a green rough side and a cream soft side. Seeing as the outer casing of heater is titanium I think it should take being rubbed with the rough green side of the sponge on a regular basis and hopefully this will make the heater last longer? Assuming it is that that is the reason?
The 5 fish in the tank appear to be growing so may have to rethink putting all 14 in there even if it is only for a couple of weeks or so. Some of the koi in the pond are now between 50 to 60 cm and the smaller ones aren't too far off that sort of size now I've taken the tench and the platinum ogon out this year. So my current thinking is move all the fish back into the pond over the next couple of weeks or as soon as we get a possible moving date, then get the QT system moved to the new place as soon after we exchange as possible and get it set up and running, start to move the fish into it and also get a 4000 litre tank as a temporary pond to go in the back garden of the new place as soon as possible after we move in then start moving some fish into that. When I get the proper pond built I will then use the 4000 litre tank as a veggie filter or maybe a separate pond for the smaller fish?________________________________________________

Bloody hell the platinum ogon nearly leaped out of the tank when I put in the last feed of the day
It's head was literally over hanging the outside of the tank
when I moved it from the pond into the tank I wasn't expecting it to last to the next morning!!! I'd say it's made a bit of a recovery now lol

Just moving fish from the tank to the pond in preparation for the house move. As the outside temperature is rising I thought it might be an idea to raise the temperature in the tank as the air temperature in the garage is higher than the water temperature in the tank so over a few hours the water gets heater higher than the heater is currently set to heat so I'm concerned it might be causing more than just a 1 degree temperature change in a few hours? I thought if I raise the controller temperature it might help to keep a more constant water temperature? Just upped it to 23.5 degrees C last night. It's meant to be 30 and above shortly so looks like another adjustment to the controller tomorrow morning may be in order
