How much does it cost to do a 3500 gallon koi pond for a contractor to do the work
Hi all at last going to get my new pond started my fish have been in a paddling pool for just over a year now because I moved.
I wondered what people think the cost is to do a high end pond about 3500 gallons half in ground and half out for a contractor to do the work ?
It is going to be round adds cost.

How long is a pice of string?
I think it will depend on a few factors like where you live, how accessible your property is, will the the soil have to taken away, insulation, glass, heating, pagoda, drum filter v Nexus and many more.
You could look up pre fab pond from EZ fiberglass ponds as they sell turn key koi ponds although you would need to prepare a base.

A lot of variables to consider, but a quality job could be at least £30k

Back in 2021 I constructed a 3000g part raised pond from scratch using a combination of different contractors and my own skills/ time. Took 6 months.
As others have said - many variables depending on spec - but I worked on the principal of do it once - do it right.
Concrete base, insulated concrete block sides, externally rendered, infinity window, fibre glassed, 2 aeriated bottom drains, combi drum, extra Hel x media, protein shower, BHM, 3 EA vari pumps, 2 EA Air pumps, auto top up, amalgam uv, Solvent weld piping throughout with ball valves and a Thermotec ASHP.
Looking at £20k to date, and that was 5 years ago.
Very happy with the end product.
Join a local koi club if you can for help and advice.2,700 Gallon, Infinity Window, Aquasource Synergy 35 Drum, 12Kw Thermotec Invertor, Amalgum UV.

It also depends how long you want to take. I spent a fraction of that, but it took me years to finish, scrounging everything for free, out of skips or bought cheaply off Facebook/ eBay etc
For a contractor it's got to be 15k to 30kLast edited by Alburglar; 08-04-2026 at 11:42 AM.
3070 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.
