Cool Looking to upgrade pond - filter choice

So i've been having a number of issues with my pond this year and am looking to upgrade to HOPEFULLY stop next year from being as much of a nightmare.

It's a 9000 litre pond and currently has a liner (with a bunch of folds that muck can get behind), pump fed to an evolution aqua 30W UV and then to an eazypod.
No bottom drain, no skimmer etc.

I'm looking to rip out my liner and have and a bottom drain to be installed and then using fixed pvc pipes instead of the current flexi hose.
I'm thinking of having a bottom drain that isn't aerated, and i'd keep using the two air stones that are currently in there which would also help with cleaning the eazypod

I would then get a professional in to fiberglass it.

My garden is very small so i'm looking at getting a drum filter, i've stumbled upon this : https://www.cotswoldkoi.co.uk/produc...au-drum-filter
which appears to be fairly priced, has a built in UVC so i could get rid of the current one and will fit in my garden. If anyone has one of these are they worth getting or is there something else i should be getting with that money?
It would then be pumped from this filter into the eazypod and back to the pond.

I'm also aware that i'll need to add a way of automatically adding water to the pond to replace the water lost from the drum filter cleaning, which i'm looking into at the moment.

I'm thinking i won't need a skimmer as that'll add more complication to the build and i'm pretty terrible at DIY as it is, if you believe this is necessary i'd be keen to hear your thoughts!

Also, do you believe it's necessary to slightly slope the concrete in the pond leaning towards the bottom drain or will it be fine being completely flat?

    Thanks for reading

    That's a decent filter.
You'll regret not putting a skimmer in. Doesn't he have to be complicated, just run BD to one inlet and skimmer to the other inlet on the drum.

    Hi Waz

I'm with alburglar with the skimmer, it makes such a difference clearing floating debris and the like, you will be surprised on how much they pull in!!

Bottom drain concrete, I would certainly slope it if I were you, well if I had my chance again, as albeit flat 'will' have the water go down the drains, even just a little bit of a slope (mine needed a bit more in hindsight) will create more of a erm, vortex is the wrong word, but more pull if you know what I mean, so it will clear more naturally. Mine has a good build up of blanket weed like a carpet and the pull from my bottom drains doesn't pull debris in the the drum quickly, though I do give it an agitate every few weeks to help it along,

I look forward to seeing what you decide!!

Hi, ive got it planned out now, I believe im going to go for 6 inch concrete base with a 1:2:3 mix unless there's a better mix i should be using.
    Any input is appreciated!

Put some rebar in and that will work spot on.
