New hi bred koi pond.
I want to build a new pond for a customer, I am a hard landscape builder, my customer has shown me his design that I have shown in the sketches.
I have built koi ponds and natural swimming pools but this is a sort of hybrid.
My big question is what can I use to support the gravel?
We are talking about a lot of gravel, I can build in a supporting ledge into the concrete but the actual perforated support material is a problem?
The bed is stated at 3’ wide so I might have to build stainless steel cross members to help support the weight however the actual plate is my issue, stainless sheet would be ideal but, cost many thousands of £s and cut cutting and fitting it would be a nightmare!
Any ideas or comments in general?

If you build it with ledges all the way round you could use plastic pallets. They are very hard wearing and many Japanese breeders use them to cover there filter systems so you can walk over them. You could always cut them in half if you don't want the outer rim to be a metre wide.
