Time for a new pond
Hello all
After being in the garden for 25 years I guess my liner is on borrowed time so I'm thinking of a new (and larger :-) ) pond - probably concrete base, block walls and fibreglass or box liner.
I have read lots of the threads here but I wondered if there is a good book / step by step guide to pond building that is recommend
thanks
Wayne

I rebuilt my pond , concrete base , bottom drain , blocks , window and fibreglass about 4 years ago from an old linered one in the ground.
Never done anything like that before.
I found the build threads on here the best source of info with you tube videos.
Start a thread and ask questions, the help you get on here is brilliant.
My thread is relatively short 125 posts , so not to daunting to follow.

I done as you have described and have my build thread in my signature, also pretty short as far as build threads go. Ironically the pond is still not finished though with the filter pit still to be enclosed. This is the risk of planning it as you go along rather than having a blueprint initially, oh and changing filtration set up multiple times before you are happy!

If you want to put the design up we can critique quite happily
1. Remember it's about the water, the fish will look after themselves. Budget 1/3 of the volume in forms of filtration or build that in. A drum removing the waste before hand has transformed by pond keeping experience. I love the 110mm pipes through out and I'm glad I did that. Also with airlifts I power the entire pond on 58W with no powered water pump except for the separate UVC circuit that I can turn on and off at will.
This means the pond can run very very efficiently. It's worth designing for airlifts if you can.
2. Fish like, prefer, to move swimming horizontally and wide corners are good so the fish don't have to rise and fall to grab food but instead swim along the edges.14000l airlifts 58W total: 2010 Chargoi, 2022 Doitsui/Tancho/Kujaku/Hi Utusri, 2023 Agasi/Doitsui
