Pond returns
Evening all,
Should I be looking at 1 1/2 or 2 inch returns back in to my koi pond, what are you all using ?

Go 2inch. You can always adapt to suit filters later.
2660 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.

Or completely leftfield, I use 4". Gravity flow from pond to half way through filter, air lift, gravity flow through rest of filter, outlet chamber and back to pond.
However, this is not in any way a conventional arrangement!

3" for me, much lower frictional loses with larger diameter pipes

It's the output from the airlift.

I've used 2 inch all the way on mine as the outputs on my pumps were 2 inch, if they weren't though I think I would have stepped them up to 2 inch

The next head scratcher I have is when do I put the returns in......... I will be constructing out of Breeze Block laid flat so do I put some 2 inch pipe in whilst laying the blocks and just notch a bit out of the breeze blocks or bore a hole through once all blocks are laid ? please help lol

Yes do exactly that. Lay pipe in the walls whilst building. Leave them long so you can cut them back later.

I have about 15 fish. One has been identified as a mirror carp, others are potentially ghost koi or...
