Thread: concrete pond waterproofing

I am in the final stage of finishing my concrete koi pond and just have a few questions re waterproofing. I will be using a epoxy resin finish as my last quote. My questions are how long should I wait until filling up the pond and adding fish? Is there any danger to using a epoxy resin finish to the fish over time and is there any precautions I should take/

is the epoxy fish safe?
as Alburglar has said it used to be a thing 20-30 years ago here, where you would use polyester fibres in the render coat, and then paint it with a waterproofing 'paint' like G4.
but it is prone to failure, and time consuming to empty a pond of fish and water for a week or so to do.

just about everyone either uses a pond liner or fibreglass....
though heat welding HDPE sheets on the continent is popular...

I have used acrylic two part pond seal still good (about 8yrs now). I used it
around the skimmer as I moved the location also on concrete lintel that the bakki sits on.
its pretty tough stuff much better than G4 which I have used in the past that eventually pealed and flaked.
