Iím having an extension built to the front of the house at the moment and itís the insulation the builders used in the cavity of the walls, they had some leftover so I used that. If itís good enough to pass the strict building regs nowadays it should be okay for what I want it for. I just put it in rubble sacks and stapled it in place.

Ibc tank all clad. Couldn’t do much yesterday because of the weather.
Just need to get the filter system sorted, then fill it up.
I’m going to build a moving bed, was looking at Kockney Koi KK1000 as the media, anyone used it, if so what do you think of it, it looks the same as K1 but a lot cheaper.

    That’s for that
I searched the forum but couldn’t find the post you referred to, but I’ve been reading a lot of different articles about the difference’s between bio media and I’ve come to the conclusion there’s not a lot of difference between them, apart from the branding and cost.

I found it. The forum is full of spam so the search function is virtually defunct now.

I put loads under the microscope, including KK1000 and K1 and with surprising results. Which is all now for sale, about 75 litres of various (used) if needed, now I've gone anoxic:

    Thanks John.
The weather has been pretty crap the last few days where I am, so haven’t been able to do much, and I’m waiting for things to be delivered, pump, air pump, piping, fittings etc.
As soon as everything turns up and weather permits I’ll be back on it.

Just finished making my in tank moving bed filter. It will hold about 20 liters of K1.
So the idea is it sits submerged in the tank and using air lift, circulates the water through the filter. It also oxygenates the tank.
I did a trial run with it, put it in the tank then added some dye to the water to see if it would get drawn into the filter, and it worked brilliantly. Admittedly there wasn’t any K1 in the filter, but I can’t see that would make much difference.

Good idea. Don't you need some vents for the water to exit the filter after being drawn in?

The air and water is vented through the top of the filter, where I drill loads of holes.
When I did the test, l saw the dyed water being sucked into the filter and vented through the top.
Which suggests to me the water is circulating through the filter.

So John, have you worked out what you’re going to do with it yet.
Are you going to use the bottom drain and what filtration system are you going to install.

Going to use it for my fry but not sure how I am going to insulate it.
Done all the cladding and got the feather edge.
I have lots of polycarb and thought of lining it with that.

Not thought about the filtration was maybe going to use the drain tap to an external pump but noticed it has weird threads on it.
May just drop in a submerge pump dont know yet.

    Hi John.
I got one of these from Amazon for £9.99 next day delivery, for the bottom drain.
Just type in Ibc tank adapter 2 inch bsp and you’ll find them.
