Does skimmer need separate pump/filter
I have read differing accounts about whether or not a skimmer needs a separate pump/filter. If possible I’d like a skimmer but to run this into the pipe from the bottom drain to the filter with a T piece and a single pump after the filter (Kockney koi 10000v). Will this work?

Hi Clive, yes it would work but you would need ideally a valve on the bottom drain and on the skimmer to balance the flow to suit.

Thanks John.
Get it done as in finished quicker than my QT system or get it done as in add the valves etc
Just out of interest, I know ball valves have a flow direction on them but do slide valves have the same? Only reason is the ones on my QT system were holding water back before but since moving and rebuilding the system literally none of them are holding water back now!!! I don't remember seeing arrows on them when I bought them years ago.________________________________________________
