Thankyou Gaz,
Any help on offer is most definitely welcome and greatly appreciated, if costly lessons especially can be avoided then its a win, win. I'd very much like to hear about/see the benefits of your experience, as you may have gathered from the title of this thread I'm very much a novice at koi keeping so to be able to share experienced koi pond keepers knowledge such as yourself is a definite plus.

I got a roll of black netting from Ebay very cheap and cut it to about 30ins high and hooked it to the post uprights, you cant see it from a small distance and easy to remove if needed.
I only have the net on the front now as I put trellis on the other three sides as in my avatoir.John

On mine there will be only 2 sides exposed for me to try and protect from predators, the other 2 sides are covered, one side by the filter house wall/window and the rear where the uprights are currently will be covered with loglap
The trellis around your pond looks sweet john1
