    Shower Return Pipe

    Hi,
I'm just about to add a Bakki Shower to my system and when designing my pond originally I planned to sit it on top of one of the pond walls against the filter house wall with a weir return.

However plans have changed and to mitigate, windchill, noise and maintain aesthetics - I'm going to site the shower in the filter house.

Question is - how can I best disguise the 3" return pipe that's going to have to come through the filter house wall and across the top of the tiled pond wall?

I was thinking maybe some stainless steel piping with a 45 degree bend and a curled flanged end?

Any suggestions/ ideas/ examples gratefully received!

    Thank you

It is a hard one, when I had a 4ins shower return from the garage I wrapped some false grass round the pipe secured with some green garden wire.

Not the best solution but stainless would do as well.

I made a 'Bakki stream' in a trough with Watercress planted in, bit of extra filtration and fresh supply of salad whenever you want

I seen a fella on YouTube making pipe look like bamboo. He was melting it make nodes and painted it

Maybe you could clad it in real bamboo?

    Hi

My Bakki Shower has underwater returns - as long as the shower is above water level and the pipes are big enough all works fine - I have 2 x 3 inch returns

I did this a long time ago, took a small off cut of 1.5ins pipe to b and q as they sold large bore bamboo and found a piece that took the pipe internally.
If I remember it was £8 so a bit more now.

As the bamboo has internal notches I rammed a broom handle down to break them up then pushed the pipe in to do for a small return.
Bit small for a shower though.

That's interesting as I do have a 2" return a couple of inches under the water surface - I wasn't sure if that would work - I'll have a chat with the shower manufacturer about that - thank you

a 2" gravity return won't take a lot of flow, i had 2 x 2" gravity returns on my old pond with a 3ft drop, and it still started backing up at around 5,000lph.

can you drop the pond level and put a 4" return in at, or just below water level?

in an ideal world a rocky waterfall would be a great way to return water in summer,
but not so hot in winter

Yeh - I think the flow will be too much wont it, showers need a good flow - will stick to plan A
