Spindrifter bottom drain
I was shopping at my local koi specialist on weekend for bottom drains. I was after a Spindrifter aerated drain but the shop owner didn’t stock them, stating that invariably after about a year or so the air domes get blocked up and that they are not currently fit for purpose. Has anyone experienced issues with Spindrifters as this is the first I have heard of any such issues? Thanks

I've never used a spindrifter - I could not force myself to pay that much for a BD for a start - but looking at the video, I reckon the air pipe, connections and jubilee clips inside are the perfect place to collect a build up of muck, mulm, blanket weed etc. etc. How long before someone has to get in there to clean it all out? Let alone worrying about the diagphram blocking up. More to go wrong, recipe for disaster, doom and gloom, if only we could have zero problem ponds
