Blagdon inpond all in one and powersafe

Hi all, I am looking for some help/advice.

I have moved into a property with a small pond and a Blagdon Inpond all in 1 and a powersafe two way switch installed.

The pump has stopped working, the red lights for both the pump and uvc are showing red, although the central light is green so there is power to the unit and the RCD is fine.

When I press either button for the UVC or Pump, the light goes green while pressed but immediately goes red when I take my finger off, the pump does not run while the button is pressed.

From what I can tell, the impeller is fine and I have cleaned out the filters and checked for blockages.

I have a couple of questions so I know if I should try some spares before replacing the unit.

    - Could it be the fuses in the powersafe, would one of the fuses blown cause both to not work and would the lights actually show green while pressed?

    - I did check the UVC bulb, the sleeve was dry but the bulb is blackened around the bottom so I assume needs replacing, could this also cause both the UVC and pump not to work and also cause the lights to show green when pressed?

Is there anything else I could check that might cause both not to work and the switch to show as red?

    UVC Bulb is probably knackered
Wire a plug to the pump and plug it in somewhere else to check that works.

Thanks, Ive got a new bulb coming today, Ill try that and will look at wiring a plug to the pump to see what happens.

How long can it reasonably be off for before it causes a problem for the fish? Its probably 2m by 1m by 1m deep on average, there are some existing plants in the pond and a couple of large goldfish.

If the bulb doesn't work, Ill try the pump later to check the watersafe control panel fuse but was planning on just buying a replacement all in one for the weekend.

Not so bad in the winter, but if you can get some air going soon that would be best.

    Thanks

So the mystery continues, I have swapped the bulb with no joy.

I did take off the control panel front, the issue with the red lights was due to the crappy rubber switches, both green lights came on and off when switched with the cover off.

I will revisit the pump once i get some daylight to see if it runs if I flick the impellor.

Failing that, I'm assuming the motor has likely failed and needs replacing?

I would disconnect the UV side. If it stops tripping it was the UV itself.

    So, brief update.

Ordered a new matching model and fitted it today.

Left the filter box and UV light as I only just swapped it and saved me rewiring it to the powersafe, fitted the new ceramics and sponges.

The pump I screwed straight into the existing AC adaptor to avoid the rewire but still didn't work.

I then swapped the AC adapter for the new one and it sprung straight into action, must have been the AC adapter.

At least I now have a box of spares, a pump (as the old one probably works with the new AC adapter), filter box and UV light.

Over the next year or two, Ill look at buying a more modern, smaller pump, I've got some time to start doing some research.

    Thanks for the help all.
