    The cage is just to add some reinforcement around the drain.. likely unnecessary but I had it spare and why not Mikes new pond build

    Good idea the reinforcement cage….one of my two 4” bottom drains moved from vertical in the process of barrowing in the concrete. Then I had to heat gun the pipe later to get it vertical again.

    No I didn’t pour the concrete upside down before anyone asks

    Australian bottom drain looks good.
