i haver a similar issue with a fat shiro
having female and male koi in the same pond...
you either have to starve the males, to not overfeed the females...
or stuff the females to get food to the males...
as the males eat a lot slower than the females who eat like PACMAN....

Really pleased with progress so far, been full a couple of weeks and Nitrite came quickly down to just 23 today, with ammonia zero, nitrite being at 256 after messing round with the filters last week, pretty sure though there will be no NPS as filters were all well mature and saved throughout, after nearly trebling size, so much more water per fish too. Obviously building the bio on all surfaces/pipework will take time (including the tunnel!) Clarity with the two drums and twin amalgam UV power is amazing, ive never run a UV before as algae just doesnt grow! However there is some starting on new pond side.

Right so this has been a long eight weeks away! all a bit of a rush when I left. The Bead hasnt been flushed for 8 weeks, the bottom drains neither, and not a single water check lol (Naoiki would be proud!) although actually they have had shit loads of food, so perhaps not . Ive also been pumping in water form the underground source which I never checked to top up, by rights they should all be floating upside down, but im told not..
But come the weekend into turbo mode again, so copings ordered (ive gone for a nice polished york stone, something good does actually come form Leeds!) block paving ordered, another batch of building materials on the way, plus I need another bio filter to finish line one, 2 new koi arrive Sat, so its all goFibreglassed/5000 gals/4.5 m Tunnel/Spindrifter/Twin drums/Bio chambers/Beads/Showers/Remora ASHP
