    Correct Finish for Pond Repair

    IMG_20211013_111243_657.jpgIMG_20211013_111203_527.jpgIMG_20211013_111218_185.jpg

    Hi Everyone .

As part of a pond makeover , I need to fill in a 2" recess at the top of the pond . It was originally used to house decking supports , but is no longer required .

Ive cut flag stones to size in order to fill the gap . I plan to stick them down the a PU sealant , as I dont think mortar would adhere to the fibreglass , which overlaps the top of the wall .

I just need to decide whether to glass them , or paint with G4 sealer , as it will have to adhere to the existing glass , the concrete , and the PU sealant .

    Any ideas

    Hi Colin hope your well,
Yes sticking down with sealant such as pu18 would be fine.
Presume you mean something to seal the flags,I havnt bothered sealing mine and grouted and stuck them with mortar and they are fine.
You could use g4 but its shiney if you can live with that.

If I remember right I ran some pu18 along the edge of the pond over the glass then used cement for the rest,to stop cement leaching into the water.

    Hi John .

Its more to blend the finish in with the rest of the pond , really . They`ll sit above the water line , so doesnt have to be water tight , as such .

Ive ended up buying a small fibreglass kit , which worked out about the same price as the G4 , so as long as I dont mess it up , should be fine .
