Rectangular Pond Returns
Hi
Raised Pond 3m x 2m x 1m
Gravity fed Eazypod
Superfish 8000
55 W UV
4inch BD
Water is returned at one of the far corners of the pond 6inches off the floor pushing water down the long side
BD is not aerated
The fish waste appears to collect in dead spots on the bottom of the pond
Any ideas on how to resolve this would be appreciated
Thanks

In my experience of playing with my pond I have noticed a massive benefit to having the aerated bottom drain as it creates a mechanism to pull the surface of the pond to the drain as it dispurses the water above it with air.
Not sure if there is anything you can to to retrofit aeration but that would be my recommendation.
Having returns at both ends of the pond helping the pond rotate in a circular fashion also helps

I agree with cavester.
On my pond (which is only a bit bigger than yours) the return is just under the surface and the pond is 2m deep. So basically my pond return has zero impact on keeping the bottom clear. Yet the pond floor is kept clear.
I put this down to the BD being aerated (although I only have mine come on a couple of times a day for an hour each time)
I've seen air rings that clip onto the lid of a BD. You could maybe try that? Although it may give the fish something to damage themselves on.
If that doesn't work then maybe just an air stone chucked into the pond may still cause enough lift so as to get the crud on the bottom moving?

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
