Thread: Pond Floor

    Pond Floor

I’m going to put Jablite on the floor and walls of the pond ,probably only about an inch thick to stop any ingress of anything that may puncture the box lining and may give a little insulation.
Question is the 4 inch bottom drain is level with the pond floor at the moment when the Jablite goes in the liner will be about an inch above the drain will cutting the liner and fitting like this be acceptable.
    Thanks

Will cutting the board on a chamfer say a foot circumference from inch to none not work?

A chamfer sounds ideal. If it can be made gradual this will only improve things.
Getting a decent finish can be difficult with polystyrene, but the weight of the water should flatten any minor imperfections.

Yeah, if you were glassing then you would have the option of running the insulation right up to the edges of the ‘bowl’ of the BD if the stem was long enough to allowthe extra height.
But with a liner you don’t want something potentially compressible and thick between the 2 rings of BD you are going to seal and screw together sandwiching the liner. So a slope down to near the outer edge of the BD is the way to go. When you come to fit the BD to the liner you will need to make sure you don’t cause any stretching of the liner into this slight bowl shape when it’s filled.
