thanks lads
just need to get my new RO pump ordered up tomorrow,
for the recycle RO
and then a bunch of 12mm and 1/4" fittings,
for my waste water heat reclaimation project.

we have Recycle RO!!!
fitted the new booster pump and 3/8" pipework to the bio feed pump today,
i've got 80 psi at the membranes,
600ml/min RO product at 4 TDS
400ml/min RO waste
600ml/min Dechlorinated trickle in.
it's still in the beta testing stage to see how it performs...
with prefiltering, pump pressure. and duty cycle, RO product to waste ratio,
and monitoring the PH and KH.
i've also ordered some more sodium bicarbonate,
in case the dechlorinated trickle in water isn't enough to hold the KH where i want it, and i need to add some.
and i still need to jiggle some wiring and pipework around to neaten it up.
but it's finally up and running...

thanks John,
basically instead of doing for instance:
1200ml/min pond water trickle out (10-15ppm of nitrate)
1200ml/min dechlorinated trickle in (5ppm nitrate)
i can do
1000ml/min of pond water pumped to the RO
400ml/min pond water trickle out at (about 24ppm of nitrate) concentrated by the RO membrane.
and put 600ml/min of purified pond water at (0ppm nitrate) straight back to the pond.
and add 600ml/min dechlorinated trickle in (at 5ppm nitrate) to hold KH up, and replace trickle out losses.
1) i use 50% less mains water
2) save 50% of heated water lost.
3) i get topup water that is twice as pure as straight trickle in.
4) i can run at a lower KH and PH and TDS....
i'm still ironing out the creases,
but i should mean my pond water is a lot more pure and clean,
and i'll save water, and heat as well....

Looking great Dave, I’m in the process of doing exactly the same with my old Ro, I have 2 x 100gpd membranes already and was going to add another membrane to them and run them in series as you have. Can you tell me what flow rate restrictor you are using please ? And what flow pump do you go for in the end ? Thanks Andy

I've been doing some more 'secret' work in the filter house over the last couple of days...
also altering the RO setup adjusting the lpm, pressure, bypass setpoint, and amperage of the pump, on the duty cycle.
in order to control the pump from overheating.
as it is drawing a lot more current working from 0psi and pulling through a set of three filters.
that the specs allow for on the lpm vs pressure vs amperage, heat curve.
i may even need to get a higher amp rated power supply that the one supplied..
i now have it running at a higher rejection rate of 1 part waste to 2 parts RO.
so going in/out for the pond is:
600ml pure RO in,
300ml waste out,
400ml Dechlorinated water in,
so i've cut my water useage from 1000ml/min down to just 400ml/min.
the PH has started to drop slightly over the last few days from 7.6 to 7.4,
and KH has dropped by 1
TDS is down from 245 to 198
here is a video how it's set up.

cheers mate
this is what happen's when your stuck inside during the winter with little else to do lol!
replaced all my 1/2" hose pipe with black 3/8" LLDPE pipe and grey JG fittings today.
makes the nest of vipers i now have in the filter house look reasonable tidy....Last edited by davethefish1; 22-01-2022 at 12:43 AM.
