I am now following this.
Currently planning a similar build and have spent the past 2 years researching (health issues put the project on hold in 2019). Most sleeper builds I've read are at least a few years old so I was reading through yours, thinking that looks good but then got worried as I was near the last page and hadn't seen any sleepers yet. Didn't realise until the last page this is actually a current build in progress!
Good luck with it, looking good and can't wait to see how this turns out

Oooh, brilliant, thanks! I'm on it
But it also looks like I need to start a new thread and, more importantly, order the sleepers!

The fence panels are the same but the feather edge is hard to get hold of,I used 4 ins posts and they have shot up.
I dont understand why as the label said it came from Pontrillas timber in mid Wales which is near me.John

so the rain is back again....
i've been getting a bit frustrated with delivery times from some suppliers.
my builders merchant delivered my concrete blocks on wednesday after only ordering them on friday evening...
i would have had them tuesday, but they had to come in from another depot first...
great service!
went down in person to the timber merchant today, as i've been waiting over 2 weeks for these sleepers to get here.
they have faithfully promised to deliver them on tuesday...i'm not going to be happy if they don't turn up...
there are other things i'm waiting on too... it's worse now than it was last year trying to get stuff...

spent all afternoon till about 7pm diggin'...
thought i had most if it done, but trimming the hole up square and flat is making another skip full of soil
and it's actually a lot harder trimming a few inches of dirt flat, than hewing great chunks out...
why does no one say just how back breakingly hard this part is in thier build threads
but in an effort to avoid any more delays in materials i have ordered the 50mm PIR insulation for the pond.
the box weld liner and underlay from kirkys koi, quite surprised how reasonable the price was...
and picked up some 20mm rebar locally for the pond window support,
and ordered a pair of 400mm x 400mm x 50mm welded structural steel angle iron support brackets for the window sleeper returns too.
rated to 3.5 tonne should help hold the timber and window square

Just had a quick catch up dave , you did a cracking job digging out mate, god yes that levelling bit is back breaking, I was lucky and had a mini digger do the bulk of mine, but had to straighten the sides and bottom a lot !!
Great progress, pain in the arsenal the sleeper delay, lots of materials are like that again now, too many home projects competing with builders for stock, once the furlough money runs out and people can holiday again things should get back to normal hopefully

Reading about your sleepers delay has spurred me to pull myself together, I'm ordering mine on Monday!
Hope they turn up soon so you can get on with it. I hate waiting for stuff

We have to at the moment too, we get preferred rates obviously at our main suppliers but frequently now just have to go to who has the stock... some client just won't wait.
Cracking photo of you in the digger, where is one of you hand digging
