just been looking at my costal koi bottom drain,
and noticed the air inlet is a 3/4" x 1" reducer on the opposite side to the 4" drain...
i thought it would be a 1" 45 elbow welded at 45 to the drain to leave the out put on the same side as the 4" as in the spin drifter in the bottom pic...

only reason i can think of is: it might be less likely to cause an obstruction with something wrapping around it as it goes down the drain...
i'll just have use 2 x 90 elbows to run it around to the same side as the 4"...

Elbows in the air connection will make no significant difference to air flow.
But tbh it was the anatomy of these drains that made me pick the JBR plastics ones which have the air outlet on same side and parallel to the 4”

The rebuild is being postponed for the moment, rain stopped play....

even though the pond is covered with a pergola, and i installed a new 110mm drain up to the filter house.
and connected the cabin and pergola's guttering downpipes into it.

the 'hole' has half a foot of water in it and as soon as i pump it out it fills back up again...
ground water running in as we are at the bottom of a slight slope.

going to have to find something else to do until it dries up a bit....
probably drill the 120mm hole through the 6" concrete slab under the cabin/filterhouse for the bottom drain to come in....

i don't know how you coped with amount of mud on your build...

    mine with hindsight,
when i landscaped the garden 5 years ago, i should have put a network of land drains in.

missus wouldn't be too chuffed with me digging up the block paved patio now though...

Yep, got the neighbour to replace about 12 foot of 350mm pipe and we put a ridding point in too so that’s flowing nicely now!

not had much chance to get on with the digging due to rain and half a foot of water in the hole...

so,i've been clearing out the 'shed' part of the cabin. it used to house the filters and a load of tools too.
but is now going to be just the filter house.
    3 meters x 1.2 meters.

just need to drill the 120mm hole through the floor and 6" concrete slab underneath for the bottom drain entry point

re-orgainsed the power sockets away from from the middle of the room to allow room for the shower to be fitted.
and then painted the first coat of sadolin superdec the same as the rest of the cabin...
only had a quarter of a can left...so i've got to get another 5L tin tomorrow @ £90
good job it goes a long way and covers well.

bit more of the non interesting boring work...
    2nd coat of sadolin superdec,

and i clad over the ceiling insulation with T&G matchboard.
bit of a painstaking job, but another one to get it done before filters ect go in...
