    Quarantine Tank

I have a 500 gallon quarantine tank and wondered what people saw as the maximum size fish that could safely be quarantined in a tank this size?

I have had 5 fish at 30-35cm, a couple of 20- 25cm fish and some tiddler tosai in a 'temporary' IBC tank for about a year since building my pond. That has about 200gal in it and the whole system is less than 300gal. All good so far.

That's good to know. I'm planning a Qt/grow-on of a similar size so am reassured that it can hold a few fish.

What filters have you got on the Qt?

I'm planning to use a midi sieve followed by DIY moving bed bio filter with 50l of k1 on it.

Mine is a 500 gallon with an eazy pod over a homemade shower, at the moment theres 4 fish.. 57cm and 3 at around 45cm, i clean the pod 2 times a week and dump the pod 2-3 times each time and the perameters are always good

My grow on has a nexus 200 and runs ozone too, you feed quite heavily so figured as a second hand nexus wasn’t much different in price to a secondhand pod and I had space I’d go for bigger filter.

A Yamitsu / kockney koi mega box +uv filter with a floss layer which gets binned every so often and large plastic media under it. Then a 125l loft tub moving bed with about
50L k1 in it. Plus some plants hanging on the side. For such a basic setup it does very well and rarely needs much attention.
