Thinking on salt, you probably don't need it but it could offer several positives at the start.

My thinking is (and it could be boll*c*s ) that...

It can help with any passengers / health issues the fry might bring.

It should reduce stress after their move and help them settle

It could safeguard to some extent against nitrite as your filtration matures.

I'd be inclined to start with salt and once everything is established let it dilute out through your water change regimen.

Just found a 6000k bulb says full spectrum daylight. In a bayonet bulb. Quote

This Androv energy saving lamp produces full spectrum light comparable to sunlight at midday. Full spectrum light helps restore the body's natural circadian rhythms, improving mood and energy levels

So most the work gear has been evicted so this whole bit will be the grow on a little over 1mx1m. Water will be 1.25 deep but I'll be insulating 7ish foot to allow for filter and doing a false ceiling with insulation and doing the door as well keep it nice and toasty mount a shelf just above water for filter air pump feed and test kit. It's a couple foot from my kitchen so can keep a very close eye on them

Thinking about getting some filter media bags and bagging the grog up and hanging it in the pond to try mature it a bit will this be OK to use in a shower for the grow. Once I've scraped the pond fish and made sure they are clean that is

    Looking good there mate.
You could put a couple of your other small ones in it for a month or so to get it going.
I put mine in clean water and fresh media all new and they were fine.

    Good call John

Small enough to help kick start the filters but not big enough to totally trash the water parameters too quickly

Just build feed up slowly like staring a new pond from scratch? Plan is to put all main pond fish in to get bd work done on main pond.

I'd give it a go mate, sounds like it may do the job. If you get going and then don't think its up to it you can always try upgrading to a grow lamp.

Only a few quid and a couple quid for a connector and wire as there is no light at all in there.

Sounds like you could do with 4 candles Aj

It's a standard filament light bulb and it's easier to make them give off something that is close to natural daylight compared to LED

So, what are you looking to achieve ......

If turning over once an hour you'll be looking at 1364 ltrs an hour with a head height of say 2.2 mtrs but then you'll also have friction losses to add to head height. So add a foot of head height per 10ft of pipe. (obviously use largest bore pipe you can)

So lets say 9ft of head height ... so 1364 ltrs per hour at 2.7mtrs or thereabouts.

A Jebao 6500 EFP claims to give approx 1500ltr per hour at this height so thats about where I'd be looking. (see chart in pictures in link to pump)

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jebao-EFP...4AAOSw8AlcflrP

All assumes manufacturers head height figures are correct, you could always go up a pump size to be safe and just turn over faster?

I'd double check my math though just to be sure lol, but I think I'm somewhere in the ballpark.
