Which way should ball valve point?
Hi,
I thought this indicator denoted the direction of water flow, however in a recent video I watched the guy said it should always point towards the filter, obviously depending on whether this is inlet or outlet to the filter that's different water directions.
Which should it be?
Thanks.

I think it's got to do with where the rubber O ring seal sits against the internal section of the ball valve so the moving part is pushed against the seal not away from it possibly?

Apparently it's to do with the fact that you can adjust the tautness of the ball valve using the handle (detach and use the back of) to adjust. Assume therefore if you did this then you would want that side always on the opposite side of the flow so you can shut it off then adjust.

Where can I get a replacement end without having to buy the whole 4" ball valve?

Actually I'll just buy a 4" coupler cut, put the nut on then rejoin.

Oh no your not the first and won’t be the last!
Yeah just get a union. You could just cut the pipe and fit the other end on now if exact position is not a problem. At least then you can fit the valve and shut off if you need to. Then add the union on the other end.

It's dry in a new pond so don't need to shut the valve off. Just means I'll need to await delivery of a union now as no koi places will be open tomorrow
