Haha thanks. Got to love a really useful box.

I am looking for a contractor to come in and do the messy part, dig a hole, remove soil, concrete slab with a bottom drain and then do the block work. I will pick up from there.

I have had 1 quote so far, £5500 for 1.2m deep and £6500 for 1.5m deep.

Not going to lie, but the price shocked me a little. Can anyone add any insight into these costs, whether or not they are excessive or about right.

    Many thanks
Hi YMC yes I’m a builder my friend and cost yes there about fright. As my pond at home I’m in the middle of building now. Is 6 x 4 m 1.2 deep.
I estimated at the beginning if I whee to quote a build this big. It would come in close to 10k insulated and. Glassed. I’ve done I’m all this myself and it cost £4.ooo k so far. With out labour.
So yours would be around half that size so half the cost ish. 5k is not excessive!
If you can get it done with a builder whom is not vat registered that’s the way to go.
    Regards Rob

Ok what did it cost there about in the end if you don’t mind me asking?
I’m still mid build! I’m digging out my filter bay and foundation concrete base next weekend.
Another £600 New House, New Pond.
But the good news is that’s most of the big expensive stuff done.
I guess I’ll be drip feeding costs there after ££

Well, I stopped logging all the costs after a while as it was making my eyes hurt. However here is the main parts:

Hole dug, concrete slab and block work = £2750

Bottom drain, skimmer and lots of pipe work, connectors, fittings, uniseals etc = £800

    Window £500

    Fibreglass and insulation £1500

Split faces tiles, sealer & adhesive £350

    1000 litre Ibc container £30

Already had a drum filter, pumps and a lot of ball valves from my old pond.

Yes my friend £ it does have that effect on us, New House, New Pond.
It’s my drum next I need to purchase. So that should be the last of the main costs. Digging out my filter this coming Saturday. New House, New Pond.New House, New Pond.New House, New Pond.

So on this glorious summers day I decided to pick up the slate for the copings. Managed to throw on a couple to see what it looks like before I got sun burnt.

I think I have worked out there will be 6 cuts. So not too bad!

How lovely to bask in the sunshine beside your new pond with a beer
I’m a big fan of slate copings, they look good next to the fibreglass too!

Do you know what you are going to seal them with yet ??

So the walls I have some sealer I bought with the tiles, but it suggests 3 days to dry out before applying which hasn’t been realistic recently. The top slates I’m not sure yet tbh

All slates done, need to fill gaps with something. Probably silicon as grout?

    Frame also painted in black.
