I'm no expert, but it's how I have mine. Plenty of flow.
My only issue is that the return from the skimmer to the sieve to the shower isn't powerful enough to run both the in pond return and shower, I'll probably upgrade the pump next year to a 20k. I believe you already have a 20k.
I'd see if anyone has an input on if you need two returns too on each side.
On the two returns I have (one each side), one is lower than the other if that makes sense

I am hoping this will create an anti clockwise rotation.
I could run 1 at 30cm on the skimmer side and one at 60 on the non skimmer side. Less pipe connectors! The reason for 30 & 60cm will mean the pipe work will be hidden under grass level.
I have 2x 18,000L pumps i plan on having 1 running on each return. In the future one of these will run though an ASHP. But thats a cost for another day.
I literally want to see no pipes, cables etc. Messes with my OCD.

I have some initial estimate costs buried in my thread, I'll have to sort out a easier link at some point.
Costs for digging for me are quite high, I don't have the logistical space for a dump truck, or a motor dumper, I just managed a 0.8t digger. This means skip hire - at £440 per 12yd skip. I also have a drain hole cover that needs support - initially I tried hiring for a stupid cost, but ended up buying my own 48Kg 44tn capable 'plastic' construction site plate used for spanning trenches. Two skips down, I have another skips worth but for now I've started on the pipework.
Just me digging and it's taken months.. for various reasons.
My estimate Concrete slab is a good 800 if you need to pump, blockwork 1K. Now it depends on your BD and pipework etc.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

The bottom drain went on beautifully, no swearing.
The extension socket, oh my days. The room turned blue haha Luckily i had two! The swept bend also went on beautifully,
Builder was done in 3 days, 1 of those days was a 12 hour day though. It was quite nice watching other people do the hard stuff haha
Over to me now to get the rest of my pipe ordered. I can't imagine I will get my returns done before xmas,

So there hasn’t been any progress for a while. But today I managed to get the returns drilled. Decided to go with 3x 2” in the end.
So now that I have finished procrastinating about where to drill I can actually get on and order the fittings needed to actually fit the pipe.

Silicone from a plumbers merchants makes it much easier to connect pvc pipe fittings as opposed to washing up liquid.

All the returns will be using pressure pipe. I am however going to use push fit for the skimmer line as it will easily accessible and not in any concrete.

So today I started doing the returns. Yay! Made some good progress. Will be working on the skimmer soon. Do I need to fix this in place before fiberglassing? Pond will be insulated.
Will be using poly resin to hold the returns in place so could use this on the skimmer too.
Skimmer is a JBR plastics one, which sits in place of the concrete block.
