    Hi
Have you looked at drain lining.
Wouldnt know the cost but would be able to complete insitu.
You would also have to look at the toxicity of the epoxy thats used.
    Hope it helps

I had a drain problem, a join on a pipe either failed or I didn’t get it glued properly and looked at alternatives but in the end concluded the best answer long term was to dig it out and replace so I didn’t worry about a fail in a couple of years.

The only other idea I had was to break into the pipe from outside and try to sleeve it with a 3” pipe inside the 4” pipe, that was only a vague possibility because of the slope of the ground etc, wound have meant a load of epoxy it fibreglassing at the drain end though

    Hiya Ken.
Is this a concrete based pond?
    pressure pipe or waste pipe?
amy access to the soil around the 90 to see if it’s wet?

Well one good thing is that that 90 is actually accessible and potentially replaceable without having to dig up the base of the pond. If the leak is actually coming from that 90.
I would be wanting to dry and cover that area and put something absorbent there to show whether there is a leak.
You could saw the bend off and glue a new one on, or saw off and fit a straight extender on and then an elbow if the distance away from the pond wall is important.

If the leak is not from that 90 then it would have to be where the pipe is glued into the bottom drain itself which would be buried now and very destructive to fix. That’s assuming you have ruled out a leak between the BD and the FG which I’m sure you have.

I had the same problem with mine, caused by a school boy error using the incorrect glue. Full bottom drain and pipework had to be removed which involved smashing away the concrete base of the pond around the BD and pipework all the way to the back wall of the pond and underneath. I ended up replacing that section with a 3" BD and pipework then back to 4" when out of ground.
I know the pain he will be feeling

This thread makes me feel sick. Poor guy, depending on available funds I think I would be considering plugging the bottom drain and going pump fed for a while :-(

It looks like to me its where the vertical pipe pushes into the 90 degree bend because you can still see water in the bottom of the vertical pipe.
If the leak was in the horizontal pipe there would be no water at all
    If you get my drift
Try lifting the vertical pipe out....It may not be glued

Hopefully Gary's right, if the drains bunged pond side and that is where the water level stays at, I'd say there is hope on an easier fix than if it was the horizontal pipe within the concrete.
    Fingers crossed

That’s a result. How did you remove it. If you managed to get it off without cutting then it could not have been welded.

    Fingers crossed Bottom drain problem
