Health and weather have combined to make progress slow once again. All I've managed is to cut the capping timber to size and get three coats of stain on.

All being well, I'll get it fitted tomorrow and then set about boxing in and insulating the filter.

That looks more than 100 gallons to me!
Why not measure it up in metric so we can calculate the volume in litres. If the sides slope in towards the bottom measure the length and breadth half way down - before you start putting water in preferably

Nice work mate if your heating it would benefit from a lid. Can pick up a small 10mm polycarbonate sheet cheap and will also triple the benefit - less heat loss, predator resistant and no escape for jumpers

I know wickes had 700x2500mm 10mm on offer last week for Ł25
I’m not sure on the size you need but you can normally get Perspex sheets smaller. You want to try and source it from somewhere local like b@q or wickes so your not stung on delivery.
Definitely be worthwhile looking on gumtree as it’s regularly on there cheap used I’ll keep an eye out for you when I’m looking around as I do.
