Quarantine/Hospital Tank.
Nothing particularly exciting compared to all the pond builds on here, but thought I would document the putting together of a quarantine/hospital tank.
Given what I've experienced with fish losses and so on this year, I thought it made sense to get something sorted. Permission has been granted to nick a bit more garden space, so I've started ordering up some bits and pieces.
The first delivery came yesterday. It should have been a box filter, with built in U.V. but they sent the wrong unit. So, that's going back and all being well the correct one will be here tomorrow.
I've also ordered a decent aquarium heater.
Space is at a premium, so I've gone with this Laguna preformed tank, which arrived this morning.

My daughter has some insulation boards left over from their recent extension build, so I'll be utilising that for the sides and base. Once that's done then my plan is to build a timber frame and fix cladding or decking as a decorative finish.
I should be able to disguise the filter behind some shrubbery.
I found a submersible pump (that I have no memory of buying) in my shed, gave it a clean up and plugged it and it works
I can use a spare air line from the air pump in my main pond.
I'll have to install a switch box, which will be purchased from Screwfix.
So hopefully, weather permitting, I'll get this up and running in the next few weeks.
I'll also need to think about an insulated cover for the top but they can wait until I've get everything set up and ready to go.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm on board for the tour
Could you include dimensions as you go too please. After all, size does matter

Nice one gmac, I'll follow along as I might build one next year as I think I'll be suffering from pond build withdrawal after my 7 month (so far) pond build this year

The correct filter was delivered yesterday.
I've got some 100 mm and some 40 mm insulation board arriving this morning, so should be able to make a start soon. Typically though, I've got plenty of work on next week, replacing all the frets on a lovely old Gibson guitar. Not moaning though, dosh is needed

No progress made this past week, as I suddenly had a whole weeks work.
I have been out this morning and purchased timber to build a sub frame for the cladding and a weather proof 4 gang switch.
I also treated myself to a Dewalt drill and an impact driver, just to make the job a bit easier.

Had a couple of hours to myself today, so got on with the project.
Insulation installed and timber frame constructed.
My wife got home from work just as I finished, she reckons it's taking more space than I said it would
Anyway, some progress pics.

It's been slow going this week, what with the weather, illness and taking my ma to hospital.
Anyway, a little more progress.
