Finally finished koi pond build
Finally finished our last koi pond !! Started just before lockdown.
5000l running retro fit bottom drain to 8000l pump connected to 2 pressurised filters running to a 3 tier bakki shower filled with pummice and alphagrog. Running for the last 2 months on jyst 1 filter but decided to add another just in case. Water parameters have been spot on at every weekly test. Have 7 fish 12-16" koi May add an extra 2 next year but for now its running and looking good. Glad its finished. Hope you like it.

Like the look mate nice . I would hold off the 2 extra fish your just over the 1000 gal which is good but 9 koi will be a canny bio load . I have 2000gal and 10 fish I want 2 more but will be adding more filtration first and am running a big multibay with a 15000 pump others peoples opinions will be different mate its just my thoughts on it . Looks cracking as it is tho . Well done

Thanks mate. I'll hold off on the other fish. I did wonder if it would cope.

Hi Steve, its a 32mm flexible pipe but thinking of changing to 32mm solid pipe. Connected to reduction hosetail supplied with the pump. My thinking with the solid pipe is so i can raise the pump off the floor to same height as the bottom drain then no pipe will be on bottom. The bottom drain we gave is the one which has the coil spiralling around it. It really is amazing. My Dad bought the other style which had holes in the top but it doesn't work to good.

Try and use the biggest pipe you can use to get the max water flow.
And yeah the ribbed one will eventually get brittle and fail so the sooner the better.
