Cheers Johnathan, nice of you to say, I know it is not really pond related but to me it is, it helps make the pond the central and main feature to me

I have also been 'recycling the soil and turf I have dug up by building up 'feature areas' in the garden... well thats my excuse for another saved skip

I have somehow misplaced photos after this... so skipping to other end again...

SO, somehow a whole day of photos gone but hey gives you less stuff to get bored with hahahahaha

For the slate ends and the granit chipping ends I just leveled the ground with soil, compacted with the whacker plate again, added more soil and did another whack... then just laid Terram then the finish

The new slate was a breeze but the old end was a mare where my guys in the digger scraped it back it was 50% slate 50% soil, so the wife and I spent a whole day sifting through this lot and moving it about from one place to another and dumping the unsalvageable, well, put around the back of the outhouse for a pathway there...

The decking end we put in new slate which was much easier...

Due to the height of the charcoal sets compared to the flags I had to lay them on the wall on thick concrete this look I did not like so I have also given the bricks 1 thin coat of bitumen, this has soaked in a tad so less likely to flake off in big chunks and will hopefully still allow water to seep through the courses - main thing is it looks MUCH better anyway so not disappointed

Both of the bits either side of the pond path have been filled with cement and concrete

We left a tree stump in to add a feature and plan to put succulents on it...

Terram down and depth of stone sussed in a pile

Tree stump, stapled the Terram around it with galvanised staples

Slowly does it, me with the shovel and barrow, Jo spreading it out hahaha

Still good to get her involved at last with some stuff, though she did help dig a few times too, and decant the type-1 from the bulk bags with me...

New slate at the other end

and the bare patch ready for 'bits'

This is bringing me up to date, still got the garden end of charcoal sets to complete but that needs to have lights and electrics re-done so saving that for another weekend... here is where we are now

Slate at the other end done too

You can seer the slope in the sets bringing that end down to the same level

Triangle bit of sets to put in on both sides of the path...

Today has been my first day off the garden hence the big catch up, hope you like it

Thanks for popping in and having a look... weekly updates from now hopefully now that I am FINALLY getting close to be able to tile the pond SOON !!!

<EDIT> I just remembered, last week on the bank holiday Monday which was the day after this photo I spent the day pointing all the flags and sets, I used EasyJoint for the first time, damn what fantastic stuff that is too - it really finishes off the areas to a much better level than I have had previously!!

I knew someone would ask.... I haven't taken any pictures or video for ages... Had loads of let downs from the guys that work on it too, so not a great deal of progress. Will try and get a video tomorrow.

you've done an amazing job and got loads done!
much more than my meager efforts

as has been said, i love the Zen gravel garden too.
it's crying out for a couple of nice big boulders and raked patterns

    Thank you dave

I finished the second white stone area and the girls have started to add pots, rocks and ornaments it is beginning to take shape nice...

It took me a couple of hours yesterday spreading the stone on the new patch and I then spread additional stone over the first area which wasn't quite deep enough, whilst doing this unknown to me my daughter did rake the first patch with circles, she was very pleased with it but to be honest I really did not like it at all, much preferred it smooth... maybe straight lines is needed instead

I would be tempted to go out in the middle of the night ( crop circle style) and change the patterns lol. Though ten minutes later the dogs would come along & ether use it as a toilet or scrape the gravel to one side

I quite like the straight lines for the 'sea' and a circle around the 'islands'
For the waves breaking on shore.
It's all open to interpretation though..
