Ahhh yes, well I have started to 'hear and there' when I have been sweeping up I have spotted the odd spike, but I reckon I should do that sooner rather than later before I forget in my haste, thank you for the reminder

If I were you I would get a few inches of water in it as soon as you can- if you got any heavy rain there is a danger or it running off the marquee and weeping through underneath the glass causing the floor to bubble up. Rain running off the marquee roof onto your filter house slab would not be soaked up into the ground so would soak into the block work.
Ahhhhh I see, right I will get the bottom drain covers cut down/glued tonight and keep an eye out on the weather... last thing I want is floor lifting

A good tip for your sharps is to put a thin cotton glove or pillowcase over your hand and slowly move it over the surface to see where it snags. If you do it with your bare hands then you would likely lacerate yourself.

Splendid, I will finish doing that tonight, I have found a few obvious ones, levelled them and touched them in with some topcoat

So, panic with getting as much work done as I can before having to put water in the pond and making it awkward to work with wellies on, I started on the back wall on Monday evening - 2 coats of tile sealer on the the blockwork, and then topcoated black onto the back ledge...

Tuesday - My pallet of split stone tiles turned up, so last night after work I got a good chunk of the tiling done - photos to follow later today when my phone decides to play properly with my PC to upload the pics )

Wednesday evening (Tonight) - I need to do the tile cuts and seal the stone, I will then feel MUCH better putting water in the bottom as there wont be much left major to do.

Thursday - My blade is being delivered so hope to install that and start the work filling around it..

CONUNDRUM - It is raining, do I hold off ONE MORE DAY without water, or am I risking the pond bottom blowing, at the moment I am not getting much water inside the marquee, but it is starting to come under it and flow to the walls (albeit just a few cup fulls at the moment)

It would take more nerve than I personally possess to leave it without any water in to be honest.
I literally fitted my window the day after it was glassed and filled the day after that, which was on the advice of my glasser. I’ve seen some horror threads on here where people didn’t realise and left the pond empty. Up to you how worried you are though!

Even just a few inches of water makes you much safer- water is very heavy.

Gawd... I didn't read these until late, in the end I didn't even get a bucket full of water under the marquee so continued with the tileing, I did look on here to see if I had any replies when I finished in the office at 5:00pm dead.

Thank you Sooooooo much for the reply

So although I did NOT put water in the pond yesterday, I was home working and kept checking under the marquee every 1/2 hour, and had the hose ready to start getting water in IF there was any sort of stream of water making its way towards the pond -

Tonight I plan to scour the pond for sharp spots and do some touch ups of topcoat and seal/silicone to my tile bottoms - this is to ensure that FRIDAY will be 'Water Day'

Clear blue skies at the moment, but will still be keeping an eye on the weather 'Just In Case'

(Still trying to upload Photos.... damn Windows 10 is frustrating when it plays up

THURSDAY evening I just made the timber infill to go above the blade (to allow access to it from within my to be built kit room)... no pics of that for some reason...

FRIDAY - I did NOT take off, I got in the pond and sealed the tiles as this was another job I wanted to do before water went in.

It went a tad foamy whist applying, but the sealer I did my kitchen slate flags did the same so wasn't concerned.

I was quite pleased with the finish, very similar to the slate sealer I imagined it would settle down nicely and give a very light satin finish, which it did.

SATURDAY was a damn busy day, Ricky helped me for the day again, thank goodness as it was a very labour intensive day, the plan was to make room to fit the kit, this would involve moving a large rockery that is in/in front of the hedge and stopped me from putting the marquee where I ideally needed it, so although not many photos the day was good.

    • Removed Rockery, recovered rocks and spread soil in garden again ( I remember when I had and could see grass
    • Cleared more slate down the side and lifted old teram making ready to concrete the skimmer filters
    • Cleared soil and crap and prepared to concrete the area for the Bottom drain filters - and concreted the area
    • Uncovered the armoured cable and exposed it back to the corner of the pond so I could eventually pull it back and put in new position
    • Insulated the water pipes underground, clipped them to the wall and concreted over them once I worked out where they needed to connect to the Drako Drum
    • Prepped the other 3 sides of pond removing old soil, Terram and slabs, filled with a bit of small rubble concreted just a couple of inches
    • Cut the 2 final blocks and installed them next to the blade, so will be dry for Sunday's timber install
