On the home straight!
As soon as you’ve got the windows in and sealed round the edges of them get a few inches of water into the bottom of the pond pronto.
Filling the pond is very nerve wracking .... nothing quite like waiting for the level to come up above your returns and bottom of windows etc. to keep you in suspense2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Thank you.. yes the home straight is in sight, I am VERY keen to get water in it, but decided to get a couple of other bits odne this weekend and hope to get water in next weekend ... I think !!
The manufacturers of my resin suggest leaving the pond empty for 2 weeks to allow the resin to thoroughly dry and enable the main toxins to come out, then they suggest water in for 2 weeks to draw the last of the toxins out, then drain and re-fill... are they going over the top, as I was hoping to put water in within a couple of days ??

Right... so the weekend.
The plan seems to have gone okay, after thinking about it over night on Friday (can't wait to go to sleep not planning stuff for hours it seems) but wanting to get water in but having a large back wall to build too, I decided to get that done this weekend too so I have less to do 'from within the pond' at a later date...
So first things first, my daughters boyfriend and Ricky volunteered again to help do the glass - after some blockwork
So, a base course set back to enable me access to my skimmer front - I used a piece of UPVC coverboard cut down to make a lintel of sorts
I then fixed an old stainless handle to the skimmer front (found in the shed), the space created enables me to lift it up and pull it through from behind the wall.

We had to leave enough time to do a couple of panes of glass after lunch, and was going to leave 1 pane out to give me easy access to the pond to finish bits... so just got a couple of courses done of upright blocks...
Thankfully there was only a tiny bow in the UPVC...
And the skimmer access worked really well too

The Glass - I decided to do a small pane first, and I knew it was going to be tight (the tightest gap of all of them - I had measured when glassing several times and made the other holes bigger after I noticed this one was getting nippy tight
Two guys outside me on the inside, all siliconed up and DAMN, yes the first one took some persuading , I had to chisel a couple of mm off the fibreglass below the pane for the last inch of drop, all beside the glass so was totally encapsulated in Silicon.
We then attempted the large pane now knowing the method that worked and the best way to approach it having learnt from the small pane. The large pane went is Soooooooo well, we decided to work a tad longer and get the 3rd pane in, that again went great other than running out of the special silicon - going to need to order a few more to finish it off.
All in all I was really chuffed with the work for the day

Today, after again sleeping on the decisions of what order I need to get things done, I reluctantly decided to do the rest of the blockwork on my own and then tackle some concreting, just some patches to give me bases for some of the kit, no new entire slabs are required as I left the crazy paving from behind the old pond, I did try to break it up previously during the demolition and dig, but it was SO thick I left it all in...
The water blade I wanted is no longer available so I am trying to find a new one, so at this point in time I can not finish the wall but need to leave a gap in it to finish at a later date, this I will have to do from within the pond off a large pair of fibreglass steps... I think.
Anyway, I managed to get what I wanted done on my own again, wall to full height and a bit of concrete done too.
I even have a nice little shelf along the back where I can utilise it for putting the airpumps and stuff on

Having got this far today I fell I now may try to order a finishing product and try to get the wall done too this week in the evenings so that another job is completed before water in the pond limits what I can do easily - Well, that's my current thought anyway, if I can get something quick enough

Other thing is have you sanded off your sharps yet? (Where tiny insects and bits of dust cause a razor sharp bit in flow coat)
If I were you I would get a few inches of water in it as soon as you can- if you got any heavy rain there is a danger or it running off the marquee and weeping through underneath the glass causing the floor to bubble up. Rain running off the marquee roof onto your filter house slab would not be soaked up into the ground so would soak into the block work.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
