Not sure about Mike buts what I am going to do, in as as soon as possible <fingers crossed the crap weather stops soon - not stopped raining since Tuesday night>

I will do water changes from my smaller pond into the larger pond to help keep the smaller pond clear & the larger one with some water That includes fish waste.

on top of everything else Mr Heron swooped by yesterday about 6pm, I just happened to se him as he used the new pergola as a landing strip. Even though I scared him off within 5 minutes he circled back around and tried a further two occasions even landing on the nearby 6 foot brick wall. I hastily put up a second “ floating net “ which was positioned about 2 foot above the first net in a tent like structure using bungie straps.

Well, another weekend over and what a crappy one weather wise...

It has been stormy and shitty since Wednesday, Friday AM we had a neighbours tree come down and take out our phone line so no internnet, it blocked the drive too so was a right pain in the ar$e to say the least

So NO insulation in the evenings last week as hoped and no t even sealing the walls etc which was my backup plan

I still managed to spend the weekend on it and clearing some debris from the storm so, jobs on the pond that needed doing anyway but not intended to do now.

I am still trying to upload pictures via my crap mobile signal as phone/internet not going to be re-installed for a few days according to Openreach

Progress - Saturday we managed to get a few bits done despite the frequent heavy rain and gales, we ploughed through and got drenched, but not going to let the weather stop progress of some description...

The main task was to get the new water pipes to the new area of the pond, I have ducting under the garden for part of the way that I had a hosepipe running through for the old pond top up, this is a 2" waste pipe, as expected the 2 no. 1" water pipes were a tad of a squeeze to get through together for more that a couple of foot, so we had to diig a new trench by hand and just utilised a couple of sections of the old 2" pipe, a section under the path and another section under some metal garden edgings... We also had to move the decorative slate and pull back the Terram

Next and last on saturday was to empty out the new pond and to protect it from further rain,, since Wednesday to Saturday a massive 90mm of rain water and leaves/twigs filled the bottom fo the pond, we baled it out with Buckets, gave up counting after 100 buckets but it only took an hour or so in the end anyway...

Once baled out we set about getting a tarp over the top to stop more rain getting in, I decided to just cover the top so the wind would sail through underneath and not become a sail, secondly the wind could hopefully assist with the drying out... well that was my hope. a new tarp large enough was delivered on Friday and after securing timer to boith ends and spanning the pond with roofing battens to stop sags we had it secured

Not massive progress but took us none stop from 8:00am until 5:00pm - well, we did stop for Bacon Butties at 11:00

Today it was still drizzling, the wind gusts have died a little too, and the cover held up for the night too, other than a couple of small rips that I dried off and gaffer tapped...

At the end of today I added battens to the top screwed to the bottom battens to stop the whipping of the tarp that was causing the rips.

The inside is drying out slightly, well at least not getting filled with water hahahahaa, so I made a start on the external pipework, the 2" returns that I put in on the sides low level / underground - these will now be ready to fill in once checked for leaks. - I got both sides done and started to plan out the ones on the back wall - ANOTHER order of pipe fittings required.

Finally today, after I had cleared more of the storm damage debis and had a general tidy of the works area (was starting to look like a building site !!) I worked out where the skimmer would sit, and cut out some blockwork and sat it in place, I will fit it properly when the weather improves... here is the inside of the pond under it's new cover, looks good enough to live in .

Cheers guys And so it begins - Going down and building up :)

Well I got off work late today so only got to have a bit more of a tidy up, sweep out in the pond and clear water gathered on the cover and move a couple of trollies of logs...

I hope for getting off for 5:00 tomorrow so I have some daylight to work on some pipework if it gets delivered...

On a plus side today my pallet from Draconian arrived, very exciting And so it begins - Going down and building up :)

Well the weather is still WET every bloody day, I am bucketing water off the tarps to stop it collapsing a couple of times a day

This week in the evenings all I have done is bale water and slowly clear the back of the old pond area , sifting decorative slate from weeds/soil/roots, to clear way for a drainage run/channel...

It is forecast to rain still until Tuesday and then again next Saturday so royally messing up my schedule Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

PLAN - Cheap Marquee ordered, hopefully it arrives tomorrow and I can tent over the whole thing so I can get on !!

I feel your pain mate, I spent a good month trying to keeping the block work dry before glassing. I ended up fixing a 3 litre jug to a long bit of wood and bailed that way And so it begins - Going down and building up :) neighbours must have thought I was crazy being out in the rain doing that!

Will be worth it in the end And so it begins - Going down and building up :)And so it begins - Going down and building up :)

We’re all with you in spirit mate , I even joined in by doing a bit more groundwork to the filter area myself , but with the weather & nights drawing in you can only do so much. Make sure the marquee is well strapped down with extra ratchet straps , I remember throwing away a one day old marquee after it became a hanglider then smashing to the ground after lifting up its anchor points.
