Blanket weed answer is OK but you need to be careful with the dosage and how you us it, as in, add extra aeration, remove as much of the blanket weed as possible before adding it. That to me kind of defeats the object of using Blanket weed remover where as with Aquasource Resolve I just measure it and put it in the water. If you use too much apparently it just effects your KH, I can't remember which way though, if it raises or lowers it now? Gaz will know anyway

Last time I used clover blanket weed my fish went nuts and reacted badly to it.
Correct dose went in. I could of got a bad batch. And it was in date.
That's the reason I switched to resolve

lol at you two
My fish didn't mind it, but the water being murky so often bugged me, and yes having to remove enough, so I had the mare of Blanketweed> Clear > Add Answer = Murky water > water clears > still growing > add more (more Murky water) water clears for a week, all good... then it would start again I think in the end the fish just thought it was natural to live in the fog
So... does Resolve make the water go misty too ??

The first time I used Aquasource a few years ago it turned the water cloudy for 2 to 3 days and then within the first 10 days it had removed the worst of the blanket weed so I gave it another dose and that done the trick. I don't remember if it went murky on the second dose though. The next year I don't think I needed to add it but the year after I did and from memory it didn't go murky at all. Then I didn't need to use it the next 2 years but this year I did but started too late in the season so was fighting what felt like a loosing battle. I then realised I was working out the dosage and reading gallons as litres so the dose was about 20% of what it should have been. It wasn't until the 3rd dose that I realised my mistake but I only had enough left in that tub for 2/3 of a dose and then gave it a break for a couple of weeks to see what was happening. It just held it at bay for a little while so I had to put another full dose in and then 3 follow up full doses which got rid of it down to a green fuzz. So now I'm just keeping an eye on it and may dose again a month after the last dose if required. The covid situation and raised raised chlorine tap water levels have not helped and the excess chlorine running through the top up system has probably knocked my filters back and as a result raised the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels which have all contributed to excess blanket weed growth this year.
So basically if I'd been using the correct dose of Aquasource a bit earlier in the year and been testing the water more often I would have spotted the rise in various levels and been able to get on top of everything much easier so that was my fault for not checking and testing the water more often and not that the treatment was trying to play catch up at the hottest time of the year.

I was redosing recently at the full dose for the correct amount of water in my system at 10 day intervals and each new dose turned the water cloudy for 2 to 3 days but after that it was back to how it was before adding the treatment. I was bypassing the filter sock on the outlet of my Eazy Pod and also the Protein skimmer on my wall mounted skimmer line so neither one could remove the treatment from the water. After 3 days I'd turn off the bypass for the filter sock then 4 days later would turn the bypass for the protein skimmer off. It would foam like mad for a few hours then settle down but that could also have had something to do with there being what appeared to be milt? in the water still?

What I meant was with with different people you'll get different answers which basically gives more questions to answer although you do tend to find everyone agrees with the basics though.[/QUOTE]

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
